Kirby Johnson Gets Career Win 800

Men's Basketball Head Coach Kirby Johnson won his 800th career game last night in the Leopards 87-83 victory over Hill College in their last home game of the season.

Coach Johnson is in his 32nd year as the head coach at Temple College and has compiled a record of 691-298 to date at Temple College. His 2004-2005 team went a perfect 30-0 in regular season and 16-0 in conference. Johnson is ranked first in the state of Texas in wins for Divison 1 NJCAA active coaches and started this season ranked 10th in the nation in total wins for Division 1 active coaches and is in the top 40 of NJCAA Men's Basketball All-Time Winningest Coaches. Over 100 of Coach Johnson's players have signed with four-year universities.

Prior to Temple College Coach Johnson was the head basketball coach at Temple High School for five years. In those five years Johnson compiled a record of 109-54.

When congratulated on his 800th win Kirby Johnson showed the picture of him and his wife hugging after the game and stated "These are the moments that I will remember, not the wins and losses. It's not about the wins and losses. It's about your family."
