Softball Takes Two From Northeast

The Temple College softball team won both games 7-1 and 9-1 to sweep Notheast Texas Community College in their home debut. The Leopards used a five-run fifth inning to soar past the Eagles in game one of the doubleheader. MacKenzie Purcell went 3 for 3 with two doubles and three RBI. Marley Hilton went the distance on the mound allowing just three hits, one run (unearned), and striking out 10.

The Leopards gave up one run in the top of the first in game two but answered back with eight runs in the bottom half of the inning and scored one more in the fourth to run rule NTCC in five innings. Alyssa Escamilla and Savanna Parker were both 2 for 2 with a walk with Escamilla adding two stolen bases and Parker adding a homerun. Daisy Gonzales got the win, throwing five innings and allowing two hits while striking out four.

The Leopards are now 12-3 on the season and will travel to Brenham to face Blinn College February 20 in a doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.
