Softball Opens Conference with Sweep of NCTC

Breanna Hernandez threw a complete game shut out to open up conference play with a 7-0 win in game one against North Central Texas College. Hernandez allowed three hits and struck out five batters while allowing no walks. Temple's offense was led by MacKenzie Purcell who went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI.

It took extra innings (8) for the Leopards to come out with a 4-3 win for the series sweep of North Central Texas College. Purcell was the offensive leader again in game two going 3 for 4 with two triples and three RBI. Marley Hilton started on the mound and threw 5.2 innings allowing three runs on seven hits with 10 strikeouts. Taylor Gruell got the win in relief throwing the final 2.1 innings allowing no runs on no hits with two strikeouts.

The Leopards are 2-0 in conference and 18-4 overall and will travel to Cisco College Wednesday March 6 for games at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
