Softball Sweeps McLennan, Holds onto 1st Place

The Temple College softball team swept McLennan Community College on the road to claim sole possession of first place in Region V North with one series remaining in the first round of conference.

TC used a 5-run seventh inning to win game one 9-2. Tiler Noyola went 3 for 3 with a triple, 4 runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base. Savanna Parker hit a homerun and drove in 3 runs. Breanna Hernandez went the distance on the mound and threw all seven innings for the Leopards allowing just five hits.

TC racked up 14 hits and scored 12 runs to win game two 12-6 to complete the road sweep at MCC. TC rallied for 5 runs in the top of the first but then allowed 5 runs in the bottom of the first. TC went right back to work in the second and scored 6 more runs in the top half of the inning. Alyssa Escamilla went 3 for 5 in game two with a triple and 2 RBI. Other Leopards with two hits were Maddie Weatherly, MacKenzie Purcell, Lenzi Stewart, and Parker. Marley Hilton, despite a rough first inning, settled in and threw all seven innings to earn the win for the Leopards.

The Leopards are now 12-2 in conference and 28-6 overall. They will host Hill College March 27 in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
