Leopard Softball Sweeps Blinn

Game 1

Adelyn Becerra hit two home runs and drove in seven as the Leopards defeated Blinn 12-4 on Tuesday at Temple College. Becerra homered in the second and sixth innings.

Blinn college opened the scoring in the top of the second on two errors. Blinn college first got on the board when an error scored one run.  A grand slam to left field by Becerra gave Temple the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the second.  The Leopards added one run in the third. Kennan Nunamaker scored after tagging up, making the score 5-2.  Leopards added six more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on five hits. Hannah Wiggins singled, scoring two runs, Becerra homered to center field, scoring three runs, and an error scored one run.

Haley Crawford led things off in the circle for Temple. The starting pitcher allowed 13 hits and four runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out three and walking four. 

Temple accumulated 11 hits in the game. Wiggins, Bre Jackson, and Nunamaker each collected multiple hits for the Leopards. Temple had patience at the plate, piling up four walks for the game. The Leopards stole four bases and turned two double plays in the game.

 

Game 2

Kennan Nunamaker drove in five runs on three hits to lead Temple past Blinn 12-5 on Tuesday. Nunamaker hit a home run to center field in the fourth scoring two, doubled in the sixth scoring two, and walked in the fifth scoring one.

Temple opened the scoring in the second after an error scored one run.  The Leopards added one run in the third after Lily Garcia doubled.

Blinn flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 5-2 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Kayden Harms that drove in three.  Nunamaker homered to center field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Leopards.

Temple came roaring back in the bottom of the fifth, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 9-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Garcia that drove in two.

Emily Delgado earned the win for the Leopards. They surrendered two hits and zero runs over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking none. Paige Bunting took the loss for Blinn. The reliever went two innings, giving up six runs on eight hits, striking out two and walking three. Hannah Calhoun led things off in the circle for Temple. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and five runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking seven. 

 

Temple College Leopards piled up 18 hits in the game. Garcia went 5-for-5 at the plate to lead the Leopards in hits. Alyssa Budisalovich, Delgado, and Bre Jackson each collected multiple hits for Temple College Leopards. Channing Lipe led Temple with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Jackson stole two bases. Temple ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game. The Leopards turned one double play in the game.
