Leopard Softball Double Dips San Jacinto

Game 1:

Adelyn Becerra hit two home runs and drove in seven as Temple College Leopards defeated San Jacinto College Ravens 17-14 on Tuesday. Becerra homered in the fourth and second innings.

Bats blistered as the Leopards collected 15 hits and San Jacinto College Ravens tallied 15 in the high-scoring game.  Temple got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Emily Delgado drew a walk, scoring one run, and Lily Garcia singled, scoring two runs.  The Leopards added to their lead with five runs in the bottom of the second inning thanks to home runs by Becerra and Garcia.  Temple added one run in the third. Becerra scored after tagging up, making the score 9-4.  The Leopards scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth on a grand slam to center field by Becerra.

Temple added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on five hits. Garcia doubled, scoring one run, and Channing Lipe homered to center field, scoring three runs.

Peyton Watson hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the seventh for the San Jacinto College Ravens.

Haley Crawford stepped in the circle first for Temple College. The starting pitcher gave up 13 hits and 10 runs over six innings, striking out four and walking seven. Ari Wright led things off in the circle for San Jacinto College Ravens. They allowed four hits and six runs over one inning, striking out none and walking four. Hannah Calhoun appeared in relief for Temple.

Temple College collected 15 hits in the game. Becerra and Garcia each collected three hits for Temple. Lipe, Alyssa Budisalovich, Delgado, and Bre Jackson each collected multiple hits for the Leopards. Kennan Nunamaker paced Temple College with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting 10 walks for the game. Temple College turned one double play in the game. The Leopards were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Becerra made the most plays with six.

 

Game 2:

It came down to the wire on Tuesday, as Temple College grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 10-9, over San Jacinto College Ravens. The game was tied at nine in the bottom of the eighth when Maveryck Lightfoot singled, scoring one run.  Lightfoot collected four hits in five at bats in the win. Lightfoot doubled in the second inning, doubled in the sixth inning, singled in the eighth inning, and singled in the seventh inning.

San Jacinto College Ravens opened the scoring in the first after Maggie Evans singled, scoring one run.

Temple College made the score 4-1 in the bottom of the second after Lightfoot doubled, scoring one run, Bre Jackson drew a walk, scoring one run, and Kennan Nunamaker doubled, scoring two runs.

Peyton Watson hit a solo home run to center field in the top of the fourth for the San Jacinto College Ravens.

San Jacinto College Ravens flipped the game on its head in the top of the fifth, scoring five runs on two hits to take a 7-4 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in one.

Temple College tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a single by Jackson, and a triple by Adelyn Becerra.

A home run to center field by Kiren Diaz gave San Jacinto College Ravens the lead, 9-7, in the top of the seventh.

Temple College tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh thanks to two singles. The Leopards tied the game at nine on a single by Nunamaker.

Emily Delgado pitched five innings in relief for Temple College. The reliever allowed nine hits and eight runs (four earned) while, striking out five and walking one. Hannah Calhoun opened the game for Temple College. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and one run over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking four. Kris Nash opened the game for San Jacinto College Ravens. They gave up 15 hits and 10 runs (six earned) over seven and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking nine.

Temple College collected 15 hits in the game. Nunamaker provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Temple with three runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 3-for-4 on the day. Alyssa Budisalovich, Delgado, and Jackson each collected multiple hits for Temple College. Hannah Wiggins paced Temple with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing nine walks for the game. Temple College turned one double play in the game.
