Leopard Softball Moves to 18-0 after Sweeping Trinity Valley at Home

Game 1:

Maveryck Lightfoot drove in five runs on three hits to lead Temple College Leopards past Trinity Valley Cardinals 19-4 on Monday. Lightfoot hit a home run to center field in the first scoring three, singled in the second scoring one, and doubled in the fourth scoring one.

A double by Kiara Wiedenhaupt put Trinity Valley Cardinals on the board in the top of the first.

Temple College flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 5-1 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Lightfoot that drove in three.

A double by Adelyn Becerra, a double by Emily Delgado, and a single by Lightfoot helped the Leopards extend their early lead in the second.

Temple College extended their early lead with four runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by Lily Garcia, Alyssa Budisalovich, and Zariah London.

The Leopards scored six runs on six hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Delgado doubled, scoring two runs, Budisalovich grounded out, scoring one run, Lightfoot doubled, scoring one run, and Paige Findley singled, scoring two runs.

Haley Crawford started the game for Temple College. They allowed five hits and four runs over five innings, striking out three and walking three. Nicole Stuhr began the game for Trinity Valley Cardinals. They surrendered five hits and five runs over two-thirds of an inning, striking out none and walking one.

Temple College amassed 21 hits in the game. Becerra led Leopards with four hits in four at bats. Budisalovich, Garcia, Delgado, Hannah Wiggins, and London each collected multiple hits for Temple College. The Leopards had patience at the plate, piling up six walks for the game. Temple College didn't commit a single error in the field. Lightfoot had the most chances in the field with five.

 

Game 2:

Lily Garcia hit two home runs and drove in four as Temple College Leopards defeated Trinity Valley Cardinals 18-12 on Monday. Garcia homered in the second and fifth innings.

Temple College collected 21 hits and Trinity Valley had 13 in the high-scoring affair.

The Leopards got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Allie Cruz singled, scoring one run, and Maveryck Lightfoot hit a grand slam to center field.

Temple College added four more runs in the bottom of the second inning on four hits. Kendall Gross doubled, scoring one run, and Garcia homered to center field, scoring three runs.

Krystal Anne Castaneda homered to right field on a full count, which helped Trinity Valley tie the game at nine in the top of the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth, Temple College broke up the tie when Garcia hit a solo home run to center field. Then a home run to left field by Lightfoot followed to extend the lead to 12-9.

Trinity Valley tied the game in the top of the sixth thanks to a double by Jaeden Burnham, and a single by Castaneda.

Temple College flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring six runs on six hits to take a 18-12 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to center field by Elise Munoz on a full count that drove in three.

Haley Crawford earned the win for Temple College. They gave up nine hits and seven runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one. Nicole Stuhr took the loss for Trinity Valley. They went four and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs (five earned) on 12 hits, striking out six and walking none. Hannah Calhoun stepped in the circle first for the Leopards. They surrendered four hits and five runs over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking two. Alessandra Borjas stepped in the circle first for Trinity Valley. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and five runs over one-third of an inning, striking out none and walking one.

 

The Leopards amassed 21 hits in the game. Adelyn Becerra went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Temple College in hits. Lightfoot seized on their opportunities, leading Temple with six runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The second baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Garcia and Lightfoot hit multiple home runs for Temple College. Gross, Alyssa Budisalovich, Garcia, and Bre Jackson each collected multiple hits for Temple. The Leopards turned one double play in the game.
