Lady Leopards Receive All-Conference Honors

The Temple College Lady Leopards had four players receive North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference All-Conference honors. Sophomores Makayla Gatewood and Alena Johnston both were awarded First Team All-Conference and sophomore Doriana Brown and freshman Brooke Lopez both received Honorable Mention awards.

Gatewood, a sophomore from Killeen, was three-time Player of the Week for Region V North. Gatewood played in all 30 games for the Lady Leopards and finished ranked in the top 10 in conference in four categories, points per game with 14.4, field goal percentage with 55.8%, blocks with 1.4 per game, and was ranked number one in the conference with an average of 10 rebounds per game.

Johnston, a sophomore from Rockwall, received player of the week one time this season and was awarded Honorable Mention as a freshman. Johnston played in 29 of the Lady Leopards 30 games this season and finished ranked in the top 10 in conference in two categories, points per game with 15.1 and was ranked number one in conference with a 42.6% three-point percentage.

Doriana Brown, a sophomore from Georgetown, finished ranked second in the conference behind teammate Gatewood with 8.1 rebounds per game. Brown played in all 30 games for the Lady Leopards this season and averaged 12.4 points per game.

Brooke Lopez, a freshman from Pflugerville, finished ranked in the top 10 in the conference with a 38.2% three-point percentage. Lopez played in 29 of the Lady Leopards 30 games and averaged 7.9 points per game.

The Lady Leopards finished the season seventh in the conference with an overall record of 17-13.
