Six Players Sign to Division I Schools for 2022-2023 Season

Six Players Sign to Division I Schools for 2022-2023 Season

Temple, Texas – After the completion of the fall season, six players have committed to Division I programs following the 2022 Spring Season.

A fall semester at a junior college allows players to participate in 14 outside competitions along with 60 practice days filled with intrasquads and opportunities to be seen by collegiate recruiters and professional scouts. Six players have capitalized on these opportunities and have chosen to commit to Division I programs prior to the 2022 Spring Season. While this has no bearing on the outcome of the season, committing early speaks volumes to the work each player has put in to develop their abilities for the next level. The Temple College Staff is extremely optimistic about the possibilities of the upcoming 2022 Spring Season and believe they have a great core group of guys that exhibit great leadership and baseball ability to play at a high level. They are extremely happy for the six that are committed today and look forward to celebrating with others as more will look to commit in the upcoming months.

"I am extremely happy for them and they have deserved these opportunities based on the effort they have put in. I hope they understand how fortunate that each one of them are to have these opportunities and continue to work extremely hard, so that their baseball careers last as long as possible." - Craig McMurtry

On time at Temple College

Before I started high school I had a major goal in my head, to play power five baseball. While going through the recruiting process I took a more complicated path, committing to a different school that was not as invested in me as I was in them. As I finished up my senior year I had officially changed my commitment and switched to play for Temple College, a school that not only believed in my baseball talent but me as a person. Playing for Temple is more than playing college baseball, it's been everything I asked for in a program. Being a Leopard is not only about baseball, but is filled with amazing mentors and people who will stick by your side.  Never giving up on my goal to play in the power five, Temple College gave me opportunities to work towards that goal. I was able to get smarter, stronger, and use my ability more consistently. Because of the motivation and hard work, I was able to prove myself and get an opportunity to play in the SEC. I chose Texas A&M because to me I feel that they are as invested in me just as Temple was from the beginning. The way Coach Schlossnagle coaches the game reflects my greatest strengths as a player. I cannot wait to put on maroon and white and create havoc for the Aggies. This year I as finish my final year at Temple, I am most looking forward to competing for one of the best junior colleges in the country, and for a group of coaches who have one goal in common and that's to get BETTER and win!

Temple College has been a huge stepping stone for me. Over my two years here I have been able to change the course of my baseball career for the better. When I started college I was an average baseball player and with the help of the incredible coaching staff and hard working guys around me here I have been able to become a power five arm. This team in particular is special. We are loaded with talent this year and continue to push each other every day. That is a big reason why I chose to play at Purdue University. The coaches there have an incredible amount of intelligence about the game and the players in the program are hard working guys like myself. I am extremely excited for next year at Purdue, but in the mean time we're working towards finishing our season in Grand Junction, CO come May.

Coming to Temple College has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. I have only been here for a shot period of time, but that short time has been the best time of my baseball career. Being able to create great releationships and also competing at a high level has made Temple College the perfect program to be a part of. I am super excited to compete in one of the best regions in Texas and hopefully compete for a national championship in May. I chose to commit to Texas Tech because I love their program as a whole. Combining the coaching staff, facilities, atmosphere and overall success of the prgram made being a Red Raider a very easy decision!

Temple College has meant a ton to me. They gave me an opportunity to play baseball at the next level. I'm from a small town and a lot of schools didn't believe I could make it, but Temple College took a chance on me and I just hope they believe it was a good one. I believe I have developed significantly in my time being here and that doesn't come without great coaches. I'm thankful I get to be around great coaches like McMurtry, Kellner, and Train. My game has improved greatly because of it. I'm excited to keep working hard for the team this year and be the teammate that everyone wants to have. With that being said, Temple has helped me have an opportunity to play Division I baseball at Sam Houston State. I've always liked Sam since I was in high school and they blew me away on my visit. It's my kind of environment down there and it's the place for me. I can't wait to have a successful year at Temple and then get to work in Huntsville next year!

My two years at Temple College have been a blessing. After Angelina cut their season I needed a school to play at and found a home. Coming here has allowed me to meet lifelong friends and be coached by some of the best baseball minds I've been around. I'm excited for my second year at Temple because I feel like we have a team that has a chance to be extremely successful. Making the decision to commit to UTSA was an easy one. After talking to the coaches I realized the potential and the trajectory their program was heading and it was something I wanted to be a part of.

Temple College means a lot to me. I'm forever grateful for the coaches taking a chance on me and helping me to develop as a player and as a young man. For this upcoming season, I'm most excited to see our team play to our full potential! I chose Sam Houston because of the coaching staff. As a player, you want coaches who don't just want you for who you are, but for who you can be. Just like here at Temple, Sam Houston's coaching staff believes in me to be better than I am and I believe in them to help me do so. Sam Houston's program as a whole has a great reputation and I'm excited for my future there!
