Two Walk Off Wins Over #20 Odessa College Moves Temple College Baseball to 13-2

TEMPLE, Texas the Temple College baseball team sweeps doubleheader over 20th ranked Odessa College on Friday afternoon. Runs were tough to come by on this windy afternoon, but timely hitting allowed the Leopards to pick up two walk off wins by a score of 3-2 and 3-2. These two wins improve Temple to 13-2 on the season.

Game One Recap

Freshman LHP Hudson Luce led the Leopards to victory on the mound as he surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out seven and walking none. Mason Brandenberger threw 1.1 innings in relief. Hagen Rose threw 3.2 innings before Brandon Taylor came in and threw 1 inning and received the win.

Down to their last out in the 7th inning of a 7-inning game, a walk by Simon Larranaga and consecutive hits by Raithen Malone and Zane Spinn allowed the Leopards to tie the game up at 2-2 sending the game into extra innings.

In the 10th inning Sophomore Zane Spinn came up with another big hit as he drove a triple into the wind over the center fielder's head and eventually was brought in by a hard single down the left field line from Andre Jackson for the win.

Game Two Recap
The Leopards offense jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning after Andre Jackson led things off with a single followed by a walk from Hogan Heller, a single from Clark Henry and a double from Colby Christian.

Fr. LHP Dawson Tourney kept the Wrangler offense off balance as he threw 5 innings only giving up 2 hits and striking out 5.

In relief Cole Van Poppel and Douglas Hendricks made short appearances only throwing .1 innings each before Mason Bryant came in eventually getting the win.

With the game tied up at 2-2 in the last inning, Andre Jackson reached safely on an error by Odessa College's third baseman. Jackson eventually advanced to second on a wild pitch which forced the Wranglers to intentionally walk Caleb Hill. Clark Henry loaded the bases with a walk of his own. On a 2-0 count So. Joseph Redfield hammered a ball to the left center which sealed another walk off victory for Temple College.

On today's doubleheader…

Two good wins against a really good team. Pitching was really good today, defense was solid. We swung the bat much better today against some good pitching from Odessa. We are making strides in the right direction. It was good to see some guys squaring some balls up at the plate. We need to carry this into tomorrow and next week into conference.

Joseph Redfield Sophomore Outfielder

On today's doubleheader...

Pitching showed up like they usually do limiting the other team to 2 runs each game. I felt that we continuously put the ball in play today better than we have been all season. Staying aggressive in the zone today was one of the major reasons that we were able to win today. It was a great team effort to pick up two wins over a very good opponent.
