TC Baseball falls in pair of close games at Cisco College

The Temple College baseball team returned to NTJCAC action on Wednesday with a doubleheader at Cisco College.

Temple had leads late in each game, but was unable to hold on as Cisco swept the doubleheader.

The scores of the twin-bill were 4-3 (eight innings) and 7-5.

TC (16-21 overall, 7-11 NTJCAC) grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning and held the advantage until the bottom of the sixth when Cisco (27-14 overall, 12-10 NTJCAC) tied the game.

The Leopards took a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth inning. However, the Wranglers scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to secure the game one win.

Sage Sanders had two of Temple's six hits and collected two RBI.

Patrick Collopy pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowed two runs on 10 hits and struck out five. Micah Melott picked up the loss in relief, having allowed two unearned runs on one hit, hit a batter, walked one, and struck out one.

Temple took a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the first when the Wranglers scored a trio of runs to take a 3-2 lead.

The Leopards tied the game in the top of the second inning and Cisco edged out to a 4-3 lead heading into the top of the fifth.

TC scored twice in the fifth to go up by a run.

The Wranglers scored three times in the bottom of the sixth and held the Leopards off the scoreboard in the seventh to win game two and secure the doubleheader sweep.

Kade Davis and Lance Cantrell each had two hits in Temple's eight hit attack. Andrew Ermis and Kadyn Martinez each had a homer and two RBI.

Eric Tenery took the loss on the hill for TC, as he pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowed seven runs on nine hits, struck out six, walked three and hit one batter. Bralen Veazey retired the lone batter that he faced.

Temple will host Cisco in the conclusion of the series with a Saturday doubleheader at the Danny Scott Sports Complex starting at noon.
