The Temple College men's basketball hosted the Dallas College Brookhaven Bears in a Tuesday night tussle on Kirby Johnson Court at the Danny Scott Athletic Complex.
The Leopards fought off an early deficit and withstood a furious second-half charge from the Bears with a late surge to down the Bears, 83-71.
Temple (3-1) trailed 12-8 with 15:45 to go in the first half before they posted 12-0 over a 3:45 span to take an eight-point lead, 20-12.
The Leopards extended their lead to 13 prior to halftime, and held the advantage after 20 minutes, 39-29.
TC came out of the locker room on an 11-4 clip and led by a game-high 17 points with 15:46 to play, 50-33.
Brookhaven (0-6) whittled the margin down to one point on a 24-8 run that covered 8:16, as the Bears trailed the Leopards 58-57.
Temple created separation with a 25-14 sprint to the finish, as the Leopards picked up their second home court win of the season.
Four Leopards scored in double-figures, as Jaymes Brown-Peterson and Josh Telfort posted 17 points apiece, Camren Roper added 16, and Storm Gilchrist poured in 12. Temple hit nine three-pointers and converted 20-of-29 free throws (69%).
Emmanuel Tarpeh led Brookhaven with 12 points. Jovan Danner scored 11 points, all in the second half, and Brandon Webber added ten for the Bears, who hit a trio of three-pointers and converted 8-of-13 attempts from the charity stripe (61.5%).
The Leopards will take DC Richland this Saturday in Dallas before they return to action at Kirby Johnson Court on Monday, Nov. 18, against Dallas College Mountain View.
