The Temple College softball team returns from their Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference bye week on Wednesday, as they will host the Cisco College Wranglers to start a four-game series.
Wednesday's doubleheader at the Danny Scott Sports Complex will start at 1 pm and 3 pm.
In the 2024 series, Temple earned the sweep in wins of 16-3, 7-1, 7-0, and 21-4.
The Leopards are hitting .375 through 41 games, with an on-base percentage of .444 and slugging percentage of .615. TC has scored 327 runs on 441 hits, 111 doubles, 26 triples, 40 home runs, 294 runs batted in, 724 total bases, 129 walked, 20 hit by pitches, and 118 stolen bases on 128 attempts.
Emily Delgado (.416 BA, .467 OBP, 2 HR, 29 RBI, 19 doubles), Marli Kennedy (.408 BA, .531 OBP, 3 HR, 16 RBI, 24 walks, 41 stolen bases), Lily Garcia (.402 BA, .448 OBP, 8 HR, 49 RBI), Reese Cottrell (.394 BA, .457 OBP, 4 HR, 25 RBI), and Angie DeLeon (.394 BA, .464 OBP, 11 HR, 43 RBI) help lead the way for the Temple offense.
The Temple staff earned run average is 1.86 with 15 complete games, nine shutouts, and two saves. The Leopards allowed 70 earned runs (114 total runs) on 224 hits, hit 17 batters, walked 110 and struck out 238, with opponents hitting .215.
Haley Crawford (16-6, 1.57 ERA, 147 strikeouts, 67 walks in 147 1/3 innings), and Hannah Calhoun (12-3, 2.83 ERA, 43 strikeouts, 26 walks in 64 1/3 innings) are the starting duo in the circle.
Cisco is hitting .303 in 38 games this season, with an on-base percentage of .368 and slugging percentage of .399. The Wranglers have scored 167 runs on 290 hits, 51 doubles, 14 triples, four homers, 149 runs batted in, 381 total bases, 98 walks, seven hit by pitches, and have stolen 49 bases on 60 attempts.
Bethany Gonzales (.365 BA, .403 OBP, 29 RBI, 14 doubles), Cassidy Arevalo (.362 BA, .362 OBP, 16 RBI, 10 stolen bases), Cierra Turner (.362 BA .432 OBP, 2 HR, 12 RBI, 12 walks), and Kylee Watson (.337 BA, .414 OBP, HR, 14 RBI, 12 walks) lead the Wranglers' offense.
The Wranglers have a staff earned run average of 6.02, having allowed 192 earned runs (286 total runs) on 341 hits, hit 33 batters, walked 147 and struck out 103 in 223 1/3 innings of work.
Gonzales (6-8, 4.67 ERA, 41 strikeouts, 37 walks in 60 innings) and Turner (4-5, 5.37 ERA, 28 strikeouts, 26 walks in 57 1/3 innings) have gotten the bulk of the starting work.
