Rachel Melancon, Head Coach Temple College Leopards Volleyball
"We practiced hard preparing for the upcoming match and the start of conference but then we had an unfortunate game cancellation against Coastal Bend. With so many ups and downs, I was nervous that their mentality would cave just a bit, but it did not. When the Brookhaven match had low energy, I gave specific directions on how to score each point and what tempo and rhythm we were going to create and then throw off. This made it fun for the girls and a challenge within themselves as well- which they thrive at."

Because of the players hard work each week, Coach Melancon has been able to focus on multiple volleyball skills, concepts and game strategies along with creating mentally tough but passionate players of the game. For all fans that follow the Leopards, it is easy to see how much improvement there has been in their game play and mentality along with seeing how much they are enjoying this season.

Trinity Iverson, Leopard of the Match
"Coming into the game, I told myself to play hard and have fun. I wanted to keep the energy high for the team and myself. At one point of the game, I did have a mental shake-up that took my control away and gave it all to the game and the other team, but I didn't want to let my teammates down- I knew I had to shake it off and come back even stronger. As a freshman coming off of an injury, there have been some obstacles to overcome and its been difficult, but I'm proud that I was able to fight my way through all of these and today showed me that I might be stronger than I realize. "

After hearing what Trinity had to say, Coach Melancon couldn't agree more, "I'm so proud of her growth and commitment to bettering her play against many obstacles, she is definitely a weapon for us and I can't wait to see where this journey takes her."  The Leopards are excited for conference to start and look forward to continuing to make a name for Temple College Volleyball.
